The golden moon bear is a rare colour variation of the Asiatic black bear (Ursus thibetanus), not a separate species. It is known for its striking golden, blond, or honey coloured fur, while retaining the distinctive cream or white crescent shaped marking on its chest that gives moon bears their name. These bears have a compact, muscular build, rounded ears, and powerful forelimbs with curved claws suited for climbing. Adults typically measure around 120–190 cm (4–6.2 feet) in length and weigh approximately 70–200 kg (150–440 pounds). Some individuals also have a long, coarse mane around their neck and shoulders, contributing to their lion like appearance. Golden coloured individuals are exceptionally rare, and their lighter coats may make them more visible in their natural habitat. #bears #animals #DidYouKnow #factsyoudidntknow #facts
