10-year-old Ryan was used to missing school field trips because many locations weren’t accessible for her wheelchair. When her fourth-grade class planned a visit to the fossil beds at the Falls of the Ohio, her family thought she’d have to miss out again. But Jim Freeman, a science teacher from the classroom next door, had a different idea. He secured Ryan in a special carrier on his back and hiked along the riverbank with her, making sure she could explore the 390-million-year-old fossils alongside her classmates — even in the 90-degree heat. Ryan later said it was really fun. And for her mum, the most meaningful part was simple: he didn’t want Ryan to be left behind. Sometimes, inclusion isn’t about making someone fit into the world as it is. It’s about making the effort to bring them along. ❤️ Disclaimer: Shared for inspirational purposes.
